NASA is also preparing to launch the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, described by many scientists as one of the most powerful observatories ever built. With a field of view vastly wider than earlier telescopes, it is designed to survey enormous swathes of the sky, hunting for distant planets and probing the mysterious dark energy that is driving the universe apart. If Artemis II is about returning to a familiar world, Roman is about seeing the cosmos on a scale never before possible, a reminder that 2026 is a landmark year for exploration in every direction.
